I've always loved this piece, the texture of the railroad spike alone was so compelling to me that I held onto it for years before making this artwork.
In terms of portraits, this modest little sculpture captures a pivotal moment in my life while visiting NYC with my family circa 1991.
As a teenager, posturing full of certainty, my father taught me the time-honored and quintessential lesson of self-preservation, otherwise known as the 'Attitude Adjustment' ...thanks pop
